THE WILDCAT CENTRE
MAIN STREET NEWTONMORE
TEL: 01540 673131
Situated in the centre of the village next to the Village Hall, the Wildcat Centre is there to provide information to visitors on the walks around the area of the village.
The centre is staffed by volunteers who serve on a rota basis and are well equipped to provide up to date information on these walks and also to give the visitor information regarding the other walks around the Highlands and throughout Scotland.
The Wildcat Centre is set up to provide information on the Wildcat Trail, and supply a copy of the Wildcat Trail Brochure. The Trail is a ten Kilometre  (six mile) circular walk around the village. It can be completed in one go if your are feeling fit but for those who are not so fit or so young the trail is in six sections which can be walked at your own pace. The brochure also includes information on eleven radial walks which start from the village and return.
The centre is equipped to provide information on the weather conditions and avalanche danger in the hills, and if anyone needs information from another area the centre has reference books and other information to enable these other places to be contacted.
The Centre also houses the Millennium Book of Newtonmore which is a record of those people who were resident in the village at the turn of the millennium. The information is there for people to see and consists of pictures of the residents accompanied by hand written information supplied by the people concerned.
