The friendly Highland village at the
gateway to Cairngorms National Park.

The Wildcat Centre

The Wildcat Centre can be found beside the Village Hall on the Main Street.

wildcattrailThe Centre is a community venture set up to offer visitors information about the village, the Wildcat Trail and other walking opportunities in the area.

The Wildcat Trail is a 10km (6.5 mile) circular walk around the village that can be completed in its entirety or walked section by section. A fully illustrated Wildcat Trail brochure, with map and directions, is on sale at the Centre for £2.50. The brochure also includes information on other walks in and around the village.

New! Visitors can now enjoy the all new Wildcat Experience for which the Centre is the first port of call. Here, you can get lots more information about this super addition to our village.

The centre is also equipped to provide local weather information and carries reference books on walking throughout Scotland.

wildcatcentreOS maps are on sale, along with Wildcat Trail T-shirts, caps, pens, etc and a range of walking items. All profits from these sales go to the upkeep of the Wildcat Trail and Centre.

The Centre also houses the Millennium Book of Newtonmore, a photographic and handwritten record of the residents of the village at the turn of the millennium. The leather-bound volumes are kept in a special cabinet but there are photocopies of each entry for those who wish to investigate the project in more detail.

The Centre is open normal shop hours between May and October, and mornings only during the winter.
