CHILDREN LOVE IT!! Their parents love it because it keeps their children happy outdoors for hours....and  adults love to do it because of the challenge!

There are currently 131cats secreted round the village, in gardens, on roofs, up trees......

If you find 25, you earn A Wildcat Experience certificate, for 50 you get a prize.

Anyone finding them all gets a bigger prize, but the fun is in the searching, the reward in finding yet another one.....  It's addictive!

Each of the cats is painted differently; some in delicate detail, others with splashy panache; some by artistic adults and many by enthusiastic Primary School children. We have  the Cat's Pyjamas, Advo-cat-e, Cat Burglar, Puss in Boots, Scaredy Cat and many more.

For more detail on this unique community arts project &  treasure hunt go to The Wildcat Experience website.

Get your Wildcat Experience TrackPack from the Wildcat Centre on Main Street. The showerproof shoulderbag contains a brochure with photos of all the wildcat models, maps and a pen to mark down each one as you find it.

Addictive
My children (8 & 5) adored this activity, they were quite obsessed! We were staying nearby and whenever we had a free hour or two we walked the length and breadth of Newtonmore hunting for wildcats. There were very informative volunteers in the office too. This is a great way to get to know a village and surrounding area and it and ensures you’re never stuck for something to do.

Saw the brown sign on the A90 and went for it.
What a great idea to bring people in to visit. We had fun looking for the different cats my 9 year old had a great time. We only found around 30 out of over 100 cats as we didn’t have a lot of time. The small loch was very pretty and we saw a red squirrel

The Wildcat Experience kept us all thoroughly entertained (and obsessed) for the week we were on holiday in Newtonmore. The children have never walked so much and complained so little about it!!! Luca is taking his gold certificate to celebration assembly at school when he goes back. Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone involved :)

Had a great wee day out doing this on holiday last week. Good way to keep the kids occupied... well worth a look if you are up Aviemore direction. Also a great idea to get visitors into a town and wandering about. Doesnt cost a lot, gets you outside enjoying the Scottish countryside, and the kids love a wee treasure hunt.

The wildcat experience is one of the most fun activities to do if you're on holiday in the Newtonmore area. The kids loved it (almost as much as the adults!) It's a great way to encourage kids to get outdoors and do lots of walking. Our 3 and 6 year old walked for miles and loved spotting the painted cats all-round the village………
