The Locations

Not all the filming for Monarch of the Glen was done around the house - or even around Laggan, Newtonmore and Kingussie - film locations extend well beyond the are known as Badenoch, into Strathspey (the area from Aviemore northwards) and out to Glen Spean - actually in Lochaber.

Also featured in series six was the beautiful coastline around Arisaig, to the west of Fort William on the 'Rathad nan Eilean' - Road to the Isles. The locations further afield are covered by the Monarch Country web site (see the links page), but below are a few scenes from Newtonmore....
Filming in progress at the side exit of the former Craig Mhor Hotel - now the luxurious 'Monarch Country Self Catering Apartments' where many of the stars make their temporary homes. This entrance featured as the 'Glen Bogle Rose' guesthouse in series 4.
