ACTIVITIES

  • Our location is in the middle of the village with Post Office 50 yards, Co-op 200 yards (open 0800-2200) 3 good pubs within 400 yards, petrol station and crafts/gifts shop plus 3 cafes all close by. Take away chip shops 100 yards and 800 yards.

There's so much to do in the area -

  • FOR CYCLISTS - We're on the Sustrans A9 route, with excellent local mountain biking - and we have a covered, secure bike shed. We hire bikes
  • FOR WALKERS AND CLIMBERS - Munros in every direction. Advice on conditions and access available. Excellent local rock climbing on Creag Dubh and Kingussie crags. Winter Climbing at all ability levels in the Cairngorms and at Creag Meagaidh. Newtonmore is central for all walking in Scotland, including the local 'Wildcat Trail'. Instruction is available on navigation, walking & mountaineering, and winter ski instruction.

  • FOR SKIERS - Cairngorm is 23 miles, Aonach Mor 44 miles, with brilliant touring terrain on the doorstep. Telemark ski hire and instruction is available.
  • CANOEING AND KAYAKING - Close by paddling rivers include The Truim, Avon, Spey, Roy, Spean and Calder, or more sedately on Lochs Insh and Morlich, where instruction is available for beginners.
  • BIRD WATCHING - RSPB reserve locally on the Insh Marshes, plus the famous Osprey reserve at Loch Garten
  • TENNIS - 3 all weather courts 150 yards away
  • GOLF - 150 yards to the first tee of Newtonmore Golf Course - par 68, 18 holes. Also Kingussie Golf Course - 3 miles
  • PONY TREKKING - top quality trekking nearby
  • FISHING - try fishing at Loch Insh (Salmon and Trout), Lochan Uvie (Pike) or the River Spey (Salmon and Trout)
  • SAILING - nearby Loch Insh provides excellent sailing and instruction is available for both beginners and advanced levels
