THE OLDEST HOUSE IN NEWTONMORE - CRAIGELLACHIE HOUSE

Craigellachie House - A Draper's in 1930 (18595 bytes)

Craigellachie House, at the south end of the village, next to Main's Hotel, is reckoned to be the oldest house still in existence in Newtonmore. It has passed through many incarnations since birth - here it was a Draper's Shop around the 1930's.

The house has also been a Chemist's  a Cafe, and a Bed and Breakfast establishment and is now a private house. As with many of the older buildings, little has really changed over the years and the similarities are quite striking.
