Cairngorm Cycling
Club
The relatively small population of Badenoch and
Strathspey means there only a small number of cycling enthusiasts spread over a wide area.
The club has about twenty members living from Newtonmore to Grantown. Members ages range
from youngsters to 'vets' and the club holds Sunday runs throughout the year and Tuesday
evening runs on summer evenings. These runs usually start from Aviemore but occasionally
the venue is varied to allow a variety of routes.
These runs are generally on roads but in winter may be off-road using mountain bikes.
Although at times quite fast, any newcomers will be looked after by a more experienced
rider and will not be left behind. The small number of members means the rides are
arranged by phone beforehand. Peter Main is the contact for the Badenoch end of the
valley. The club also promotes a number of races.
